MORDRED después de 27 años regresa con una producción de gran calidad, esta semana hablaremos de "The Dark Parade" un trabajo que salió el pasado 23 de julio del presente año.
Para los que no estén muy familiarizados con ésta banda, les cuento, son una agrupación de San Francisco California formada en 1984 y fue hasta 1989 que sacan su primer trabajo titulado "Fool's Game" son un proyecto de Thrash/funk y se separaron en algunas ocasiones por falta de recursos (no les fue muy bien en el ambiente del metal) pero ahora están de vuelta con un muy buen trabajo.
Entrando ya en lo que es el álbum, comencemos con la portada, la cual tiene un arte muy interesante, se observa un grupo de "cirqueros" y la ya característica cabeza de arlequín que usaron en la portada de su primer trabajo y te transmite una esencia de Inglaterra en los años 60´s (lugar donde se origino el circo), es una portada muy atractiva.
Hablando del contenido musical, es un total de 8 canciones que dan una duración de 39 minutos, un trabajo interesante pero distinto, no es el típico thrash veloz y asesino, los toques funk le dan un sonido muy especial y único, son más experimentales, desde sus primeros trabajos lo fueron, tal vez por ello no fueron tan aceptados, estaban algo adelantados a su época.
Si esperas un trabajo veloz, típico del thrash californiano, este trabajo no es para ti (eso no quiere decir que no esté la velocidad o la brutalidad presente) ya que al ser más experimental usan incluso teclados y tornamesas, las cuales le dan un estupendo sonido funky.
El intro al álbum es buenísimo, y te hace querer escuchar todo el trabajo, la primera pieza, "Demonic #7" es Thrash puro y contundente y la voz suena potente pero serena, es decir, como un presentador de circo, alguien que te prepara para lo que viene. La canción que da el título al álbum "The Dark Parade" es la más divertida de escuchar, ya que tiene muchos elementos musicales, creando todo un "carnaval" y es la más extensa del álbum, una verdadera belleza.
El trabajo no es malo, para mi fácil es un 8.5 a 9, bastante disfrutable, divertido y dinámico, les repito, si son fans de la esencia más pura del Thrash y no les agrada mucho el sonido experimental, éste trabajo no es para ustedes, pero si se permiten ampliar un poco sus horizontes musicales sé que el álbum llegaría a convertirse en uno de sus favoritos.
La pregunta obligada es ¿le irá bien a MORDRED, por fin, con éste trabajo? ya veremos, pero esperemos que si, es un trabajo que vale muchísimo la pena esculcarlo. Recomendado al 100 y espero lo disfruten tanto como su servidor, nos vemos en futuras reseñas!!
